      The influences of Apulian folk music certainly come from the Mediterranean area.

      Its geographical location has seen the settlement of peoples from Turkey, the Balkans, Greece and Africa. These influences are still very present today and can be found in the language, food and especially music.

      The lyrics of popular songs tell of girls and boys, famine and wheat, vineyards and olive groves, princes and poor people, tarantula bites and historical regrets.

      In the heart of Salento, during the night of S. Rocco, in Torrepaduli, you can still witness the ancient Sword Dance accompanied by tambourines and the rhythm of the Pizzica Pizzica.
