Marina di Andrano: the balcony on the Otranto Coast Park

      Marina di Andrano

Marina di Andrano is the coastal town of the Municipality of Andrano, located between Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca, along about three kilometers of cliffs overlooking the sea and pretty sandy coves where you can dive into the crystalline waters that have earned it the Blue Flag of Legambiente several times.

It includes the area called “Torre” and the area called “Botte”. The two areas are connected by the “Lungomare delle Agavi”, a path immersed in greenery and close to the sea, which constitutes a privileged observation point over the entire Otranto Coast Park – Santa Maria di Leuca and Bosco di Tricase, of which the Andrano marina is part.

The “Torre” area has two particularly attractive bathing spots: the “Grotta Verde” beach (a marine cavity that reflects sunlight into the sea, giving the water an emerald color) and the beach known as “Fiume” (due to the presence of fresh water springs).

The “Botte” area includes the beach of the same name, which stands out for its particular attention to inclusiveness, including easy access to the sea, and the characteristic little port, dug into the rock to provide shelter for small fishing and pleasure boats.

Of notable landscape importance is the “Belvedere Madonna dell’Attarico”, from which it is possible to enjoy a wide panorama of the coast, and near which it is possible to visit a delightful Byzantine crypt.

The Andrano marina also had its own watchtower, part of the defensive system built by King Charles V. The 15th century Porto di Ripa Tower communicated visually with Torre Capo Lupo to the north and Torre del Sasso to the south. Today only the base remains.
