      La notte della Taranta

      Notte della Taranta is a folk music festival born in 1998. It takes place every year in Salento during the month of August. It is a traveling festival that passes through various squares in the province of Lecce. The initial stage is always in Corigliano d’Otranto and the final one (the concert) takes place in Melpignano.

      Initially, the municipalities involved in the festival were only the 9 of Grecìa Salentina. Today the festival includes many more squares, including Otranto, Lecce and Galatina.

      Each edition of the final concert is entrusted to a “concertmaster” who has the task of arranging the traditional music of Salento, blending it with the rhythms of other musical traditions and latitudes.

      The masters who have succeeded one another in the various editions are names of the calibre of Ambrogio Sparagna, Mauro Pagani, Ludovico Einaudi, Goran Bregovic, Carmen Consoli and Raphael Gualazzi.

      The 25th edition of “La notte della Taranta” will take place on August 27, 2022, with Dardust (Dario Faini) as concertmaster and Madame as presenter.

      In addition to taking the stage as host, Madame also stars in the evening's performance of the song in Salento grìco "Calinitta".

      The other artists present are Elodie, Marco Mengoni, Samuele Bersani, Massimo Pericolo and, as a special international guest, Stromae.

      Bersani performs the traditional “Lu rusciu te lu mare” before proposing a “pizzicato version” of his 1992 single, “Chicco e spillo”.
