The Living Nativity Scene of Pezze di Greco is a real dive into history and time. The Living Nativity Scene

ogni anno accoglie più di 20.000 visitatori da tutta Italia e si allestisce in una lama, chiamata Lama del Trappeto.

The blades, produced by fluvial erosion in the Neozoic era, run through the territory of the Itria Valley, from the Murge to the sea. The flow of water has created sub-vertical sides in the tuff walls and it has been easier for man to dig the rock environments.

The inhabitants of the neighboring towns, such as Fasano and Pezze di Greco, have been the creators of the Living Nativity Scene since 1987. The cluster of caves was made accessible after removing the mud from the rainwater. The protagonists of the Nativity Scene identify with the daily life of a peasant society that responds to the customs of the 19th century.

The rock village is surrounded and dotted with huge silver olive trees, in the distance by green hills and the blue Adriatic sea. A real riot of colors.

The scenic setting recalls the peasant past between 1800 and 1900. The creators of the nativity scene carefully prepare the clothes of the peasants and lower classes of Southern Italy between those years.
