Like every year, in the first week of August, in Maglie, in the heart of Salento, the Mercatino del Gusto is held, an event born in the late 90s under the good star of Slow Food Puglia and grown out of all proportion with the passing of the editions, until it became the largest food and wine event in Italy. Here, food and wine becomes the pretext and the opportunity to discover and get to know the Apulian territory in its varied uniqueness. The streets, the courtyards, the buildings and the gardens... every corner of the city is transformed into a celebration of good food and good eating habits.
A hundred or so artisans from the agri-food and catering supply chain to meet and get to know, listen to and observe, walking through the streets of the historic center and why not, getting lost among them, chasing the smells of pizza or grilled meats, the experience of street food or that of an elegant gourmet dinner, in a villa, at the court of a starred chef.
Una manifestazione sempreverde che tuttavia non si esaurisce nel valorizzare il palato tout court né nella realizzazione di questa grande e variopinta vetrina della tradizione pugliese, ma punta sui possibili felici abbinamenti con la lettura, la musica, la danza, il cinema e il teatro.
Quindi niente di più facile dell’imbattersi, mentre camminiamo col naso all’insù, sperduti tra lo spettacolo di questa festa a cielo aperto e lo stupore fanciullesco davanti alle tradizionali luminarie, in laboratori di educazione alimentare e sensoriale, degustazioni guidate, ma anche in proiezioni di film e documentari, presentazioni di libri, mostre e concerti. Cosa chiedere di più!?
