The All Saints Fair of Carpignano Salentino takes place from October 30th to November 1st. It is one of the oldest fairs in Puglia, dating back to the year 1000 and was initially linked to the cult of the SS. Medici, and took place near the church of San Cosimo.
In the Middle Ages that place was very well known and crowded, as it corresponded to the last post point for changing horses before reaching Otranto. The date of November 1st would derive from the oriental tradition that celebrated the Saints Medici.
Over the years and with the changing needs, the fair was moved from the square around the church of San Cosimo to today's Carpignano, while maintaining its nature linked to agricultural tools, seeds and animals, adding over the years the exhibition of artefacts linked to craftsmanship.
The All Saints Fair with over 450 exhibitors, 4 km of roads involved in the event and approximately 15,000 square meters of exhibition space, is one of the largest events in the productive and cultural field of the Province of Lecce. It is a highly anticipated event of the Salento autumn and attracts thousands of people. It develops in the city center and extends for a good part of the country.
Tanti gli appuntamenti con la musica ed il divertimento previsti nelle tre serate ad alternarsi sul palco.
