
The Civic Museum “P. Cavoti”, located in the suggestive Ex Convent of the Dominicans of Galatina, preserves an extraordinary collection fruit of the genius of Pietro Cavoti. Art scholar and designer who left us a kaleidoscope of drawings, sketches, notebooks, prints, photographs that alone are worth a visit to the museum.
Furthermore, some of the most important and significant sculptures by the visionary Gaetano Martinez are preserved here.


In the rooms on the first floor of the museum you can see an original copy of the first collective agreement in Italy.
This is a unique document that in 1906 established an agreement between peasant claims and the demands of landowners.
The museum continues with a series of artifacts that range from the Messapian period to the Italian Risorgimento.
Of the ancient Messapians, a tombstone is preserved with clearly visible letters of the Messapian alphabet. While, from the medieval period and later, one can observe a beautiful Christ on stone and some disturbing and monstrous stone masks.


In addition to an interesting room where ancient parchments are kept, you can admire a second room dedicated to the genius of Galatina Martinez.
