This is the longest watercourse in the province of Lecce. It originates in the fiefdom of Collepasso, in the Paduli area, and includes two tributaries, or two other agricultural irrigation canals, the Sirgole canal and the Ruga canal.
It flows into an open countryside, near Nardò. To be precise, into a chasm that swallows the entire river and pours it into the aquifer.
During the winter, with the abundant rainfall, it swells, reaching the point of overflowing in some countryside locations that fall within the fiefdom of Nardò.
