Torre Pali is one of the many coastal watchtowers built in the 16th century by Charles V to defend the Salento area from invasions by Saracen pirates. At the time of construction, the tower was located on the mainland but due to coastal erosion it is completely surrounded by sea waters about 15 meters from the coast. The circular tower, of which only the base remains, was developed on two floors and must have had slits in the upper part.
